JANN April 9 Meeting Recap
JANN members turned out on Saturday April 9 at the UWI Community Film Project Office for another monthly meeting. Discussions surrounded KingstOOn and what animators should aim to do next, as well as a call for volunteers to operate in posts for the Marketing, Events, Projects, Administration and Grant Funding departments of JANN. Next meeting which will be held on May 21 will be nominations and elections for those positions.
Each month the meetings will feature an animation trainer from a different institution showcasing student work and talking about training at their school. There will also be a “Member of the month highlight” where we will choose an artist, animator, actor or musician to feature and have them make a presentation on their craft and what they have been working on. We often don’t know each other’s skills or where to find each other, so this will help everyone get acquainted and foster collaboration.
Members requested we have an expert in voice acting attend the next meeting, so that will be arranged as well through our partnership with “Listen Mi Caribbean”. Tina Griffiths from the UWI Community Film Project office presented on the GATFFEST Film Festival. She encouraged the animators to enter and she showed some of the 2014 and 2015 films much to everyone’s delight including last years animation winner Andre Hall for “Homeles”.
The session ended with a handing over of free one year membership to the local winners of KingstOOn.
