The event begins with a MATINEE at 3:00pm. The cover charge is $200 per person. This month’s matinee is “Ponyo” – a story of friendship between a 5 year-old boy and a goldfish princess who yearns to be human!
Then at 6:00pm we move into the FEATURE – Studio Ghibli’s 2013 production “The Wind Rises”. The cover charge is $500 per person. The film chronicles the life of a man named Jiro who “dreams of flying and designing beautiful airplanes, inspired by the famous Italian aeronautical designer Caproni. Nearsighted from a young age and unable to be a pilot, Jiro joins a major Japanese engineering company in 1927 and becomes one of the world’s most innovative and accomplished airplane designers. The film chronicles much of his life, depicting key historical events, including the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the Great Depression, the tuberculosis epidemic and Japan’s plunge into war. Jiro meets and falls in love with Nahoko, and grows and cherishes his friendship with his colleague Honjo.”
After the screening we will be showings of various “Making of…” and “Behind the Scenes of…” videos to fuel the “Critique, Review and Education” session that will be the hallmark of our J.A.N.N. screenings.
Food and beverages will be on sale throughout the day, as well as after the feature, so we invite you to stick around and lyme.
Come out ready to be entertained and have fun!
